Plusnet offers low-cost phone/broadband package
Plusnet, the Sheffield-based ISP acquired by BT last year, has come up with a budget phone/broadband package that costs £16.99 a month.
For the money you get a rental-inclusive phone line with free weekend calls, plus a broadband connection of up to 8 Mbps and with one gigabyte of included bandwidth. Extra GBs will cost you £1.25 each.
The Plusnet Essentials is an interesting option for small business users wanting an extra phone line with a back-up broadband connection, or for executives wanting an extra line/broadband at home.
It could be very useful, for example, for those small firms with a cable phone/broadband line who need an economically-priced back-up option for when their cable provider lets them down.
The Plusnet calls costs are also discounted with calls to landlines costing 4p a minute, whilst calls to mobiles cost 11.5p a minute during the day and 6.5p a minute in the evenings.
All calls are subject to a 6p call set-up fee, similar to the 7p call set-up fee that BT (and TalkTalk) now charge their customers.
